The University of Michigan’s (U-M) Kinetica Labs is revolutionizing workplace safety with motion capture technology that turns videos into posture data without a sensor attached to the body. This enables companies to identify risky movements and adjust equipment, workstation layouts or processes to reduce the likelihood of employee injury.Discover We Are Kinetica

Using a combination of MTRAC, NSF and Ann Arbor SPARK funding, Kinetica has already developed its technology in the lab and secured a distribution deal with U-M tech transfer and commercialization partner Humantech. The startup has now set its sights on bringing the technology to market in a variety of sectors with applications for law enforcement, health care and retail.

The Kinetica real-time analytics database enables enterprises to quickly operationalize extreme analytics and machine learning for data visualization, deep dives into large datasets and generating predictions from unstructured and semi-structured data, including spatial datasets. Using the new Reveal, an interactive visualization platform now included in the Kinetica suite, business analysts can conduct real-time location-based analysis on massive data sets, including Internet of Things (IoT) data.

The Kinetica platform can be deployed in a public cloud, on-premise or hybrid. With full GPU-accelerated SQL-92 query support through certified NVIDIA GPUs, the solution can be used to accelerate OLAP and BI data exploration for fast results. Kinetica offers ODBC and JDBC APIs for access, enabling developers to leverage third-party code, use custom libraries with built-in multi-level security and deploy on a wide range of architectures.
